Stephen Curry’s sister Sydel Curry-Lee has started her own podcast with WNBA star Cameron Brink. In the first episode of Straight to Cam, Curry-Lee called out Shai Gilgeous-Alexander over an Instagram post where he shared multiple clips of him cooking her brother.

“I have a bone to pick with him (Gilgeous-Alexander),” Curry-Lee said. “I have a little bit of a little sister bone to pick with him because he posts his fits and he posts lyrics as captions… Whatever city he’s in, he tries to find a lyric that matches that city, right? … He’ll post the fit and then he’ll post if he’s dunking on someone or a good play from that game.

“So he posted when he played in the Bay, ‘I was feeling like e-40 in the Bay, so I had to go dumb.’ … I’m watching the move, oh my god. He crosses up Stephen, goes behind the back, Stephen gets off-balanced,” Curry-Lee stated. “Great move, right, cool. You got your move off. You posted the shot of it, great. But why are there four other clips of him against Stephen and no other player gets that? No other post gets that.”

Here is the post that Curry-Lee was referring to and there are a fair few clips of Gilgeous-Alexander getting the better of Curry.

Gilgeous-Alexander posted this in Nov. 2023 and the fact that Curry-Lee still remembers it shows just how much it got to her. She clearly felt the Oklahoma City Thunder star was trying to make a point there and he might well have been.

Such posts with pictures and clips are fairly common on Gilgeous-Alexander’s account but the videos don’t usually feature just one opposing player as Curry was here. He almost certainly was trying to show off, as there were plenty of clips he could have taken from that game.

Gilgeous-Alexander had 40 points (18-29 FG), seven rebounds, six assists, two steals, and two blocks to lead the Thunder to a 130-123 overtime win over Curry’s Golden State Warriors on Nov. 18, 2023. He had his way with whoever the Warriors tried to guard him with, not just the Curry.

As for Curry, he had 25 points (8-21 FG), seven rebounds, and three assists in the game. It was a solid showing but nowhere near as good as the Canadian’s. That game would also prove to be a sign of things to come that season for the two stars and their teams.

Gilgeous-Alexander led the Thunder to the top seed in the West in 2023-24 while Curry’s Warriors finished 10th and lost in the Play-in Tournament. It looks like we’ll get a repeat of that this season too.

The Thunder have an impressive 37-8 record, which is by far the best in the West. That record combined with Gilgeous-Alexander’s averages of 32.1 points, 5.3 rebounds, 6.0 assists, 2.1 steals, and 1.1 blocks per game have made him the favorite for MVP.

He is Curry-Lee’s pick for the award too, so there isn’t any bad blood here. She was just a little bit upset that Gilgeous-Alexander went after her big brother in that post.

Curry himself didn’t have anything to say about it. He probably had other things to worry about, like the Warriors’ fortunes. The two-time MVP is probably worried about it now too, as they are 11th in the West with a 23-23 record.
