Luka Doncic is undoubtedly box office, but Chris Webber reckons he is anti-Hollywood like him. During an appearance on the Straight Game podcast, Webber stated that Doncic will have to learn to like Los Angeles.

“Some players like myself, we were anti-Hollywood, you know what I mean? We don’t want to be Hollywood,” Webber said. “We want to come in here and shut it down and have y’all walk out of here quiet. It seemed like that’s who Luka was, and now he has to like L.A. So, I’m interested in how he’s going to make that work.”

Doncic certainly doesn’t seem to be the type to have an interest in all the glitz and glamour that come with being in Los Angeles. The 26-year-old isn’t going to go around rubbing shoulders with celebrities and is more keen on ripping the hearts out of opposing teams and their fans.

Doncic certainly enjoyed silencing Los Angeles Lakers fans by dominating at Crypto.com Arena with the Dallas Mavericks. He won three of his last four road games against the Lakers and could have potentially gone down as somewhat of a nemesis for them. The Mavericks, though, had other ideas, as they shockingly traded the Slovenian to the Lakers.

While Los Angeles may or may not be the perfect place for Doncic, he sure has had a blast playing for his new team. Doncic stated it feels amazing to be a Laker and is grateful for all the support he has gotten from the fans. The five-time All-Star has been made to feel very welcome and has certainly felt all the love that has come his way.

Luka Doncic Has Been Getting More Comfortable In Los Angeles

Doncic was shocked by the Mavericks’ decision to trade him, and it was always going to take him a little bit of time to get over that. The Lakers have made that task easier for him, as NBA insider Shams Charania reported that Doncic is getting more and more comfortable in Los Angeles.

“He’s feeling more and more comfortable with every passing day. He just moved in a few days ago in Los Angeles,” Charania said. “The most important part for Luka Doncic has been what he’s told people around him, as well as Jeanie Buss, the Lakers owner, which is that he’s felt more and more appreciative and comfortable with how the Lakers have surrounded him with support, with inclusion in the process of everything.

“This has been a true partnership that they are trying to develop, and that means a lot for his long-term future for the Lakers, and they hope he’s gonna be a part of this next decade of Lakers-Celtics rivalry games,” Charania concluded.

That increased level of comfort in his new surroundings might have played a part in Doncic looking back to his very best after a slow start with the Lakers. He is now averaging 24.7 points, 8.1 rebounds, 7.6 assists, 1.8 steals, and 0.5 blocks per game for his new team and is quickly becoming a fan favorite.

Doncic is now going to have to up those numbers further as LeBron James is out for at least two weeks with a groin strain. He is going to have to carry the load and is fully capable of doing so. We could see Doncic in action next when the Lakers take on the Brooklyn Nets at Barclays Center on Monday at 7:30 PM ET.

His passion for the sport was ignited after witnessing the high-octane offense of the Steve Nash-led Phoenix Suns. Among the Suns, Shawn Marion stood out to Gautam as an all-time underrated NBA player. Marion’s versatility as a defender and his rebounding prowess, despite being just 6’7”, impressed Gautam immensely. He admired Marion’s finishing ability at the rim and his shooting, despite an unconventional jump shot, believing that Marion’s skill set would have been even more appreciated in today’s NBA.This transformative experience not only deepened his love for basketball but also shaped his approach to sports writing, enabling him to connect with readers through vivid storytelling and insightful analysis.
