The Los Angeles Lakers are now down 1-3 on their current 5-game road trip following a loss after a 103-115 loss to the Detroit Pistons on Monday night at the Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, MI.
LeBron James had another 20-point night but expressed disappointment with the result during his post-game locker room interview.
“We’ve got to be better on both sides of the floor, that’s all. There are times we’ve been good, and times where we’ve not been good, so I’ll say we’re still working on that… We have to match the physicality of whatever game is being played. I think as a unit we did a good job in that in the first half but by the second half, we were already down 14.”
James gave Cam Reddish his flowers for a gutsy defensive performance.
“Cam was great tonight. He did exactly what was asked of him, came in, and defended at a high level. He was great.”
Looking ahead, LeBron doesn’t seem to be panicking about the rough road trip just yet. He expressed positivity about the Lakers’ manner of doing things and getting better.
“We need to keep doing what we’re doing, keep showing up to work and putting time in, commit to what the coaches want to do, and stay positive no matter what’s going on the floor. There’s always ways to get better.”

James put up 20 points (7-16 FG), eight rebounds, and 11 assists during his Monday performance in Michigan.

Sadly, they struggled to take over down the stretch after the Lakers trailed by just six points against the Pistons in the fourth quarter. Detroit has been one of the weakest fourth-quarter teams this season, so failing to close the Pistons out will leave a bad taste in the mouths of fans.
Once again, Anthony Davis led the Lakers by scoring 37 points and grabbing nine rebounds. Austin Reaves had a decent 17-point outing, but disappointing performances from Rui Hachimura (8 PTS, 2-6 FG) and D’Angelo Russell (11 PTS, 4-14 FG) along with just 10 bench points dug a hole the Lakers couldn’t crawl out of.
Overall this was an upsetting result for the Lakers, who entered the game with winning expectations and key advantages. The Lakers are now 4-3 overall for the season so far.
They have one more game left on their current road trip against the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday before they head back to the Crypto.com Arena for a three-game home stand starting with a clash against the Philadelphia 76ers on Friday.
