LeBron James made his return to the Los Angeles Lakers tonight against the Memphis Grizzlies. And he did so in emphatic fashion, pulling off an incredible fast-break dunk, and followed that up with a massive chase-down block on Desmond Bane on the other end. It was a play that showed just how timeless James is, pulling off an incredibly athletic play at the age of 39.

This is James’ first game back since December 7th, when he took part in the Lakers’ 134-132 loss to the Atlanta Hawks. After the loss, James missed the game against the Portland Trail Blazers due to foot soreness.
Later in the week, JJ Redick confirmed that LeBron James had asked for, and was granted, a stay of absence from the team due to personal reasons. Ahead of the Lakers’ game against the Timberwolves, Redick noted that he didn’t know when James would make his return and that it would be up to LeBron when he returns.
It didn’t take too long for James to make his return to the team, missing just two games during his injury layoff and personal absence. Redick said before the game that James was going to take it easy but ‘give it a go’.
At the time of this writing, LeBron James has eight points, five rebounds, three assists, and two blocks in this game. He seems to be doing well, shooting 3-5 from the field and 1-3 from the three-point line. Perhaps James will continue his streak of scoring 10+ points per game tonight.
The Lakers look re-energized with LeBron James on the court, having built a 20-point lead over the Memphis Grizzlies right now. Perhaps this return could spark a second wind for the Lakers’ season.
