With roughly six weeks to go before the start of the 2024-25 season, LeBron James felt it was appropriate to give some encouragement to his first-born son. As the newest Laker this year, Bronny has a lot of work ahead, and LeBron is rooting for him to stick it to the haters.

“Keep going kid and f**k all the hate/noise,” wrote James on his Instagram story. “You know your personal legend! They don’t know you!”

Fresh off a promising performance at Summer League, Bronny is no doubt in the throws of an intense workout period as he prepares for the long grind of his rookie season. After averaging a modest 4.8 points per game at USC, he was drafted 55th overall by the Lakers and is expected to suit up for his new team this October.

For LeBron, this moment has been many years in the making. After 21 seasons in the NBA, he’s on the verge of making history as the first NBA dad to play alongside his son. It’s been a longtime dream for King James and you can bet that he’ll do everything in his power to ensure that Bronny has everything he needs to prosper in the pros.

Unfortunately, as the son of an NBA legend, Bronny is already the subject of much scrutiny. According to fans, the media, and even some players, Bronny had no business being drafted this summer. Between his concerning medical history and his underwhelming college tenure, there were many voices advocating for James Jr. to postpone his NBA career for at least one more year.

Thanks to his hard work, and the efforts of Rich Paul, Bronny was able to not only make the NBA but land in his ideal situation: on the Lakers with his dad. Now, they can train together in preparation for the upcoming season and work together on a game plan that might maximize Bronny’s potential.

Of course, no matter which direction things go, LeBron and his son will have to deal with endless noise from the community. Whether it’s die-hard fans showing their unconditional support or haters wishing for their epic downfall, Bronny will see both sides of the NBA fandom and the best way to get through it is to ignore it altogether.

Fortunately, as a man who has endured the spotlight his entire life, James is used to the pressure and he’s built to handle it with ease. With LeBron at his side and head coach JJ Redick committed to seeing his success, Bronny should have the tools and resources he needs to develop his skills and prove the haters wrong once and for all.

As for the Lakers, the only way to avoid backlash from the fans is to win more games. After their crushing defeat in the first round last year, the franchise is desperate for success, and only by a respectable performance next season will the Lakers avoid disaster.

So as the summer nears its end, it’s no surprise that the James family is already in the gym getting ready for the upcoming campaign. Failure is not an option for the Lakers and LeBron has more incentive than ever to ensure a respectable run in 2025.
