The Los Angeles Lakers are inching closer to securing a season series win over the Denver Nuggets for the first time in five years if they can hold onto their 46-29 first quarter lead. Luka Doncic was the architect of this performance, putting up 21 points (7-11 FG), three rebounds, three assists, one steal, and one block in the first 12 minutes.

When Doncic went to the free throw line late in the quarter, a Nuggets fan trash-talked Luka by saying ‘ball don’t lie’ after he missed his first shot. Doncic gave a perplexed but frank reaction, roasting the fan by sinking his next shot and mocking the trash-talker.

Fan: “Ball don’t lie!”

Luka Doncic: “I got 20, you talking about ball don’t lie.”

*After making the second free throw* Luka Doncic: “Ball don’t lie (sarcastically)!”

Doncic is one of the worst players in the NBA that you can piss off, as he’s known to have big games when he feels slighted by fans or opponents.

Four examples of this off the top of my head. The first is when he scored his first 50-point game against the LA Clippers in their first matchup after Doncic lost a Playoff series to them.

The second comes from his 50-point performance against the San Antonio Spurs when head coach Gregg Popovich proclaimed his only goal was to ensure Doncic doesn’t get to 50.

He destroyed the Detroit Pistons in a game because an assistant coach decided to trash-talk him, and he also put together a first-half triple-double against the Utah Jazz because Kris Dunn was annoying him last season.

We haven’t even mentioned what he did to the Phoenix Suns and Devin Booker in 2022 after Booker proclaimed that flopping during a game is the ‘Luka Special.’ No matter what your personal feelings on Doncic are, he is a bad man when it comes to taking offense and punishing a team based on it.

Hopefully, the Nuggets continue to make this game competitive through the quarters instead of falling to that fate. They’re down just 14 points at halftime with the Lakers being up 73-59. Doncic has noticeably cooled off as well, with the guard going 1-5 for just three points since his hot start in the first quarter.
