Savannah James took to her Instagram story to react to LeBron James and Bronny sharing the court as teammates last night in the Lakers‘ 118-114 loss to the Suns. Savannah noted that she had watched a lot of basketball in her life, but to be able to see her husband and their son play together was a special moment.

“I’ve watched A LOT of basketball… This is so special!!”

It was indeed an incredible moment to see LeBron and Bronny share the court together for the first time ever. They made history in that moment, becoming the first-ever father-son duo to play together in the NBA. While it was only a preseason game and the first official team-up is at least a few weeks away, it would have meant a great deal to the entire James family.

Unfortunately for Bronny, that was perhaps the only positive for him in the game, as he put on a poor performance against the Suns. Bronny put up 0 points, 2 rebounds, 0 assists, 0 blocks, and 0 steals while giving the ball away 4 times, and picking up 3 personal fouls.

Bronny actually made some costly errors in the final moments of the game, and NBA fans were at their ruthless worst with the young man.

As for LeBron James, he had a far better performance, as is to be expected considering the gulf in quality and experience between him and Bronny. James put up 19 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 blocks against the Suns.

Bronny James is still very young in his career and has the chance to develop in the long run into a solid NBA player. Difficult nights like the one he had yesterday are just part of the growing pains as a young, inexperienced player who didn’t get the chance to play much in college.

The Lakers are aware that Bronny will be a long-term project for them, and any fans expecting immediate, star-level returns from a young guard who was a second-round pick is being extremely unreasonable. In time, Bronny may become a good NBA player, but he needs the time, patience, and space to develop into that.

LeBron James Was Thrilled To Play With His Son

After the game, LeBron James spoke to the media about how special it was to share the court with Bronny, noting that both as a teammate and his father, it was a moment he would never forget, and was filled with joy about the opportunity to play with his son as a teammate.

Bronny James also spoke about his father with the press, noting that it is impossible to not think about LeBron James as his father when being on the court. But he did add that he does his best to make sure he treats him like a teammate during these opportunities and doesn’t let his feelings get in the way of his responsibilities.

JJ Redick wanted to give the father-son duo an opportunity to play together at least once before preseason was over, presumably so that the two had the chance to experience the environment of an NBA game together prior to opening night, when the Lakers take on the Timberwolves, with Bronny expected to play to give the duo their moment in the spotlight.
