Jimmy Butler is not playing on the court for the Miami Heat right now but is battling it out on another court. The Daily Mail reveals that Butler has filed a motion in court against his ex-girlfriend Kaitlin Nowak, the mother of his three children, requesting relief from a previous agreement in which he’d agreed to pay $10,000 for a nanny.

The documents obtained by The Mail reveal that Butler pays Nowak $55,000 per month in child support. The two reportedly started dating in 2019 and welcomed their first child, Rylee, that same year. Their first son, Brayan was born in 2022 and the couple had another son, Kian, in 2023.

The outside world knew about Rylee and Brayan, who were also featured in Netflix’s Starting Five documentary, but not about Kian. The fact that the couple had another child was only revealed when Nowak, a Nebraska native, launched a petition in October 2023, within weeks of his birth, to establish paternity and child support.

Butler and Nowak would reach an agreement in which they established joint custody. The NBA star also agreed to pay $10,000 for a nanny but on a temporary basis. The 35-year-old now feels Nowak, who reportedly has a degree in Advertising, Public Relations, and Applied Communications, no longer needs one and wants to stop that payment.

Butler, who is making $48.8 million this season, argues that Rylee will be attending school in the 2025-26 academic year while Brayan will be enrolled in preschool or childcare. He reckons that eliminates the need for a nanny for Nowak and here is the case he has presented.

“Mother is unemployed and refuses to seek employment. With one child in preschool and Father exercising equal timesharing with the older children, there is no legitimate reason for Mother to insist both on a nanny and that Father pay for that nanny.”

“No nanny for mother is reasonably necessary when Father is exercising his fifty percent (50%) timesharing. Therefore, even if the court determined that a nanny was a legitimate expense for which Father should pay, there is no basis to require Father to pay for a nanny to be with Mother when Father is exercising time sharing.”

“It must be pointed out that the Father and Mother were never married. Mother is not entitled to live as if she is married to a National Basketball Association (NBA) player.

Neither Butler nor Nowak, who is a fashion model, entrepreneur, social media influencer, and blogger, have commented on this subject which isn’t a surprise. The six-time All-Star would be hoping to win this legal battle and also the one he has engaged in with the Heat.

The Heat have suspended Butler for seven games over multiple instances of conduct detrimental to the team. He has made it clear he wants out and while the team expressed a willingness to move him, it doesn’t appear as if they’ve gotten a good offer yet.
