Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo is one of the best players in the world, and he’s been in the top five in the MVP conversation for the last six years. For Giannis, however, winning is his priority, and he revealed that he enjoys it better than intimacy with his wife.

“Listen, the MVP discussion is great. I’ve been in the MVP discussion, what, like the last seven years? It’s a great compliment,” Giannis said, via Sam Amick. “But at the end of the day, winning is a different feeling. I was able to live it once [in 2021]. I don’t know if people feel like it counts or it doesn’t count… but winning is winning, and so is the NBA Cup. It was like, wow, this feeling, man, it’s like – it’s better than intimacy.”

Mariah Riddlesprigger is Giannis’ wife. She’s a former volleyball star turned entrepreneur with three children: Liam, Maverick, and Eva. They have a good relationship by all accounts, but it seems not even she can give Giannis the same pleasure he feels when winning at the highest level of competition.

Throughout his career, Giannis has demonstrated loyalty to the Bucks, and he’s been doing everything he can to bring another championship to the franchise after making history in 2021.

Even after winning two MVPs, Giannis said his peak moment was the Bucks’ championship run four years ago. It was the franchise’s first championship, but Giannis is determined for it not to be his last.

Of course, his thirst for winning is not exclusive to the NBA playoffs in June. This season, the Greek Freak also led the Bucks to a victory in the NBA Cup, becoming the second team ever to achieve the feat.

“That’s the feeling I’m chasing,” Giannis said. “I’m not even going to lie to you. Like, All-NBA, all that stuff is great, but it’s winning. I want to win.”

The modern NBA is more competitive than ever, and only those who want it the most are going to succeed. Since being drafted in 2013, Giannis has been hard at work expanding his game and maximizing his potential to help the Bucks win as many games as possible.

This season, Giannis is playing elite-level basketball with averages of 30.2 points, 12.0 rebounds, and 5.9 assists per game on 60.0% shooting. Alongside Damian Lillard, Giannis believes the Bucks have the best duo in the game and can beat any team on any given night.

Despite the star talent, Milwaukee hasn’t looked great this season. At 40-21, they are fifth in the East and just a half-game up from the Detroit Pistons in the standings. Most would agree that the Bucks have been among the most disappointing teams in the league this season.

The Bucks have already been written off as title contenders this season, and most believe they need a major roster overhaul to contend with the Celtics and Cavaliers in the East. Only time will tell us how the Bucks hold up when it counts, but we can never question Giannis’ desire to win at all costs.
