The Atlanta Hawks blew out the Milwaukee Bucks 145-124 at Fiserv Forum on Sunday, and Giannis Antetokounmpo’s frustrations appear to be growing by the minute. This was the third defeat in a row for the Bucks, and Antetokounmpo was seen slamming his towel on the ground in frustration during it.

Bucks fans are starting to get worried that Antetokounmpo will ask out after the season, while others reckon he will be gone.
“Giannis is 100% out of Milwaukee,” one fan is convinced Antetokounmpo will leave the Bucks this summer.
“Giannis deserves so much better than this,” one Bucks fan feels Antetokounmpo deserves better.
“He’s going to the Knicks. We all better get used to Mikal Bridges,” another Bucks fan thinks Antetokounmpo will be traded to the New York Knicks.
“We can give Giannis a fresh start,” a Dallas Mavericks fan believes Antetokounmpo can get the fresh start he needs on their team.
“Yeah, Giannis is leaving Bucks. Come to the Lakers,” a Los Angeles Lakers fan wants Antetokounmpo to be the second superstar to join the team this year after Luka Doncic.
“This FO is a joke. No one could have combined bad draft picks and asset mismanagement to the extent they have,” a fan ripped the Bucks’ front office for the job they’ve done.
The Bucks’ front office hasn’t done a great job in terms of roster construction, but the team has had some rotten luck as well in recent years. They have lost in the first round of the playoffs in each of the last two years, and injuries are a big reason why.
Antetokounmpo suffered a back injury in the first round against the Miami Heat in 2023 and then missed the entire series against the Indiana Pacers in 2024. Damian Lillard also missed some time against the Pacers, and that series still went six games.
If we go back a bit further, Khris Middleton suffered a medial collateral ligament sprain in the playoffs, which dashed the Bucks’ hopes of defending their title. Injuries are part and parcel of the game, but you can’t help but wonder how different the last couple of years would have been if they were a bit more fortunate.
As for this season, well, the Bucks haven’t quite looked right for much of it. They got off to a woeful 2-8 start, and while they eventually steadied the ship and are now 40-34, they haven’t looked like a serious contender at any point.
With Lillard now out indefinitely with deep vein thrombosis, this season is a lost cause. A third straight first-round exit is very much on the cards, and Antetokounmpo, who is averaging 30.2 points, 11.9 rebounds, 5.9 assists, 0.8 steals, and 1.2 blocks per game in 2024-25, could well ask out after that.
While Antetokounmpo has stated he’ll never leave the Bucks, he has also spoken about just how much he loves winning. If it becomes clear to the 11-time All-Star that he won’t be able to win another championship in Milwaukee, it wouldn’t be shocking if he starts considering his options.
Antetokounmpo is currently under contract through the 2027-28 season, for which he has a $62.7 million player option. If the 30-year-old does declare that he wants a move this offseason, the Bucks will be able to get a massive haul in return. They’d be hoping it doesn’t come to that, though.
Antetokounmpo and the Bucks will be in action next against the Phoenix Suns at Fiserv Forum on Tuesday at 7:30 PM ET. It was, of course, by beating the Suns in the 2021 NBA Finals that Giannis won his only championship, and it was unimaginable back then that he wouldn’t even get close to that stage in the years that followed.
