Nick Wright Calls Out Devin Booker While Praising Luka Doncic: “The Mavs Best Player Is Better Than The Suns Best Two Players Combined”

The Phoenix Suns-Dallas Mavericks was expected to be a boring, one-sided series, but that’s the second matchup that will go to seven games besides the Boston Celtics-Milwaukee Bucks in the East. Luka Doncic and co. finally made it to the second round of the playoffs and he’s not ready to go home. The Slovenian player has been balling during this series, dominating the Suns, proving that he’s one of the best players in the league at this moment.

It seems like he took things personally after being teased by Devin Booker in Game 5. He returned stronger for Game 6 and destroyed the Suns with a 113-86 win at American Airlines Center. Booker’s antics weren’t appreciated by Mavs’ fans and some people on the media called him out for that.

During a recent edition of First Thing First, Nick Wright went off on Booker while praising Luka. He even said that the 23-year-old is better than Book and Chris Paul combined:

"It's not just that the Mavs have the best player in the series, the Mavs best player is better than the Suns best two players combined. … Do you feel that? It's the vise tightening on Devin Booker & Chris Paul. A lot of pressure on the Suns for Game 7." — @getnickwright pic.twitter.com/060aAV5lcP

“It’s not just that the Mavs have the best player in the series, the Mavs’ best player is better than the Suns’ best two players combined,” Wright said. “And you know, I am feeling good this morning. Nothing better than having a nice familiar thing. My actual son tweeting about my large adult Slovenian son [Luka Doncic]. Well, get that, 33, 11, 8 and 4. More points, more rebounds, more assists, more steals, for all you defense fetishizers out there, and a clear 12 fewer turnovers. Do you feel that? It’s the vise tightening on Devin Booker and Chris Paul. Chris Paul, four times in his career has 2-0 leads, that’s the most in NBA history. Could we have a fifth? And Devin Booker had the audacity, the unmitigated gall to mock a clearly superior player… A lot of pressure on the Suns for Game 7.”

We have a big game this Sunday, with Luka ready to pull a Dirk Nowitzki and keep his team alive in the 2022 NBA postseason. The Mavericks have found answers to everything the Suns have thrown at them, and this Sunday could be the confirmation that Luka is a terrific playoffs performer, even if he can’t beat the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference.

The Slovenian has come a long way and he’s not ready to stop the journey. However, the Suns will try to do anything to stop him and make it to the WCF, where the Golden State Warriors are already waiting.
