Nikola Jokic dominated in Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals with an incredible triple-double that saw him drop 34 points, 21 rebounds, and 14 assists.

After the Nuggets walked out 126-132 winners, withstanding a second-half Lakers run, Jokic gestured to his home crowd and pointed to his ring finger.

Players only point to their ring fingers when they feel confident that they’re winning the championship. Otherwise, you’re creating a clip that’ll be used against you forever if you fail to win the title.

The Nuggets are looking fierce but only winning by 6 points in a game where they executed everything as well as they could have should be concerning to the squad.

Is Nikola Jokic’s Confidence Warranted?

The Denver Nuggets have never even made an NBA Finals appearance, so the team is hoping to end that streak this season. This game wouldn’t fill me with confidence that we can win a title if I was a Nuggets fan, especially given how the Lakers managed to limit Nikola Jokic in the second half and make dangerous runs to make it a one-possession game.

The Nuggets managed to hold onto their lead, which was over 20 points during the game. Anthony Davis dominated Jokic and put up an efficient 40-point triple-double. The wings didn’t have many answers for LeBron James either, who scored 26 points with 12 rebounds in a solid performance. His missed clutch shots ended up killing the Lakers’ comeback.

The Nuggets need to get past the Lakers and then hope they can beat either Miami or Boston in the Finals. This is their best shot at a title in their franchise history, but it isn’t even close to being signed, sealed, and delivered.
