Nikola Jokic’s brother, Strahinja Jokic, recently made headlines for all the wrong reasons, appearing in Denver County Court on a misdemeanor assault charge, as per the Denver Post. The 42-year-old was charged with third-degree assault after a video went viral showing him punching a fan during an April 22 playoff game between the Denver Nuggets and the Los Angeles Lakers at Ball Arena.

The altercation reportedly began with a “verbal exchange” between Strahinja and the fan, which quickly escalated when Strahinja allegedly struck the man in the face. The fan, who initially declined to press charges due to fear of retaliation, later changed his mind and decided to pursue legal action. According to police reports, the fan suffered a concussion, along with cuts and bruises around his left eye, as a result of the assault.

Strahinja Jokic, who felt justified in his actions, told police that he believed he had done nothing wrong and was merely defending an older man whom he had known for a long time. Despite his claims, the court took the matter seriously, putting a protection order in place that requires Strahinja to stay away from the alleged victim. He is scheduled to return to court in October to enter a plea in the case.

This incident is not the first time Strahinja Jokic has had a run-in with the law. In 2019, he was charged with assault after being accused of choking and pushing a woman, as well as preventing her from calling 911. In that case, Strahinja pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of obstructing phone service and a felony count of trespassing. The trespassing charge was later dismissed after he successfully completed the terms of a deferred sentence.

The recent altercation at Ball Arena highlights a pattern of violent behavior that has plagued Strahinja Jokic, overshadowing the achievements of his younger brother, Nikola, who has been making history on the basketball court. Nikola Jokic, a three-time NBA MVP and 2023 NBA champion with the Denver Nuggets, has enjoyed tremendous success in his professional career, but his family’s troubles have occasionally brought unwanted attention.

The Jokic family has become well-known among NBA fans, not just for Nikola’s brilliance on the court, but also for the controversies surrounding his older brothers, Strahinja and Nemanja. The brothers are often seen supporting Nikola during games, but their presence has not always been positive, as demonstrated by this latest incident.

As the legal proceedings continue, Strahinja Jokic’s actions serve as a stark reminder of the importance of controlling one’s temper, especially in public settings.

For Nikola Jokic, who is widely regarded as the best player in the NBA, this situation undoubtedly adds a layer of complexity to his public image and the legacy he is building within the sport. The outcome of Strahinja’s case remains to be seen, but it has already left a significant mark on the Jokic family’s reputation.
