DeMar DeRozan has caught the eyes of many fans this year for his amazing performances in a Chicago Bulls uniform. Currently, DeMar Derozan is averaging 26.8 PPG, 5.1 RPG, and 4.6 APG. He has also been terrific during big-time moments thus far this season.

Brian Scalabrine has recently claimed that DeMar DeRozan should get the Most Improved Player award, with his reasoning being that he has improved his playmaking ability as well as his “feel for the game”.

Brian Scalabrine: Two things happened last year. His assist numbers went through the roof with San Antonio. I just think right now, he just has a much better feel for the game. At one point he averaged 1.8 assists and the following year 2.2 assists? I think last year he averaged 7.0 assists a game. He’s becoming like this guy you can put the ball in his hands and he can make plays for you.

Now he has these guys around him. They got the perfect team around him… I don’t know if he’ll get Most Improved, but there should be some serious consideration for him getting most improved.

Nikola Vucevic has recently responded to NBA Central’s post featuring Brian Scalabrine’s words and joked that Brian Scalabrine “meant to say most valuable” implying that DeMar DeRozan should win the MVP award.

The Chicago Bulls are the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference, and it’s easy to see why Nikola Vucevic and others believe that DeMar DeRozan should be an MVP candidate. While it is difficult to see him winning the MVP award over players like Stephen Curry, he should definitely be in the conversation for it.

Hopefully, we see DeMar DeRozan continue his stellar play. Even if he doesn’t win the MVP award, he is still an All-NBA caliber player that has elevated to a new level. The Chicago Bulls have been great with his addition, and there’s no question that they’re a contender for the 2021-22 championship.
