Pat Connaughton Believes Giannis Antetokounmpo Can Become Similar To LeBron James: “All The Ability To Do The Exact Same Thing.”

3 Min Read

Giannis Antetokounmpo led the Milwaukee Bucks in winning the 2021 NBA championship, delivering an iconic 50 point performance against the Phoenix Suns in Game 6 of the Finals. We already know that Giannis Antetokounmpo is a superstar: he has won 2 MVP awards, and we often see him do amazing physical feats in-game.

Even though he is already a good player, there are still areas where Giannis Antetokounmpo can improve. When speaking to Eric Nehm of The Athletic, Bucks shooting guard Pat Connaughton claimed that one way that Giannis Antetokounmpo can get better is by taking his playmaking to the next level. He claimed that Giannis Antetokounmpo has the ability to do “the exact same thing” that LeBron James does on the court in regards to his passing.

“Look, LeBron is LeBron because of his ability to get other people involved and Giannis has all the ability to do the exact same thing. And I think it’s just the more he sees his people guard him as an MVP, as a Finals MVP, the whole thing, he’s starting to anticipate how he can affect the game without just scoring.”

“As he gets better and better at that, he’s going to be able to have his way in this league. I mean, we’ve seen it with all his freakishness, but that passing ability and that ability to read a defense and almost be a step ahead of a defense, it’s that mantra of he’s playing chess, not checkers

There is no question that Giannis Antetokounmpo has improved his playmaking over the last few years, and perhaps more improvement is on the way. There are some that believe Giannis Antetokounmpo can be even more special than LeBron James, but obviously, there’s still a long way to go for the Bucks forward.

The Milwaukee Bucks have won 6 games in a row, and they have definitely improved their play since their shaky start. Many viewed them as a contender going into the season, and they are currently 5th in the Eastern Conference. Giannis Antetokounmpo has an opportunity to repeat this year, and we’ll see if that ends up happening.
