  • Patrick Beverley went swimming in the ocean during his time in Ibiza, Spain
  • He explained that he did it to reach a restaurant that was on a big boat
  • Patrick Beverley struggled in the water and needed the boat to save him

Patrick Beverley is 35 years old and he has made himself one of the most popular role players in the NBA over the last decade. He has played for five teams since getting his chance in 2013 and will play for the Philadelphia 76ers next season.

One would think that Patrick Beverley would take it easy before he joins another contender, but his vacation has seemingly been quite eventful. He revealed how he almost drowned while in Ibiza in Spain.

“We’re in Ibiza, Spain, to a restaurant, right? In order to get to the restaurant, the restaurant sends out a small boat to take us to a big boat and the restaurant. So you see a whole bunch of boats just in the water.

“We’re eating, I look into the water. I go, what about the workout today, what am I thinking? Why don’t I swim to boat? I tap a guy, I’m like, ‘Has anyone ever swam out there before?’ He was like, ‘Yeah.’ So now I’m thinking it’s a Batman movie.

“I get down to the rock, half the restaurant is looking. I take off shirt. I’m off, I’m doing it, I’m doing it. In the water for like four minutes and 45 seconds. I go you know, ‘boat boat boat.’ The guy goes, ‘No bro, you’re so close.’

“I’m like, ‘Nah, boat boat boat.’ Get him. He’s like, ‘No. Have some cojones.’ My whole body dipped under. They grabbed me and pulled me up, I’m like a penguin, spitting out water. Sh*t was wild.”

That story sounds wild, and it’s a testament to how difficult swimming is that even a top athlete like Patrick Beverley struggled with it. He didn’t have a relaxing vacation.

Patrick Beverley Is Trying To Make James Harden Stay With The 76ers

Patrick Beverley averaged 6.2 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 2.9 assists per game for the Los Angeles Lakers and the Chicago Bulls last season. But he is trying to help his new team already by trying to get James Harden to stay

“James, I love you, bro. Stay! James is a really good friend of mine, one of my best friends. Me coming to the NBA with Houston, it was me and him, six years, my starting buddy, I’ve been there with James. I’m excited to get it going, he knows I’m here, so we’ll see.”

It’s hard to say how his experience in Spain will help the team next season, but Patrick Beverley will bring a wild and winning mentality to Philadelphia for sure.
