The trade deadline saw contenders in the East make moves around the margins to improve their rosters. The Milwaukee Bucks acquired Patrick Beverley from the Philadelphia 76ers via trade while the 76ers replaced Beverley by signing Kyle Lowry, who had been bought out by the Hornets.

Beverley opened up on Lowry essentially taking his spot in Philly. While he respects what happened with Pat also being sent to a good situation, he has claimed he will go after Lowry when the Bucks and 76ers play on February 25.

“Nurse got his guy… I respect it. Doc came and got his guy, me. Nurse went and got his guy, Kyle. But now I see Nurse’s hand, I’ll be on Kyle’s ass when we play Philly. Straight up. That’s just how it go. Like, how dare you? Say less.”

Beverley is averaging 6.2 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 3.1 assists this season, settling into a role as a defense-first bench guard. Lowry was having a rough season with the Miami Heat, averaging 8.2 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 4.0 assists before being traded to the Hornets for Terry Rozier.

PatBev has previously joked about playing alongside Giannis Antetokounmpo and had his best years in the NBA under Doc Rivers on the Clippers. In Philly, Lowry can enjoy a smaller role alongside Tyrese Maxey but will have to deal with Joel Embiid likely not being available for the foreseeable future. He is reunited with his 2019 championship-winning head coach Nick Nurse in his hometown.

Patrick Beverley Had A Hilarious Interaction With Giannis Antetokounmpo Which Foreshadowed Them Being Teammates

Beverley has been in the journeyman phase of his career since being traded by the Los Angeles Clippers in 2021 to the Minnesota Timberwolves. Since then, Beverley has played for the Lakers, Bulls, 76ers, and now Bucks.

When Beverley was on the Wolves, he faced Giannis and the Bucks in a game where ANtetopkounmpo was resting. This prompted Beverley to call out Giannis for skipping the game, which led to an interaction in which Giannis told Beverley to join the Bucks if he wanted to win a title.

Patrick Beverley: “Go out to do my normal shoot-around before the game and see his brother. I’m like, ‘What’s up? Your brother ducking smoke?'”

At this point, Antetokounmpo walked out of the locker room only to be confronted by Beverley.

Giannis Antetokounmpo: “Never duck smoke, Pat. Never, never duck smoke.”

Patrick Beverley: “I said why the f*** you ain’t playing, Greek?”

Giannis Antetokounmpo: “I was in the back eating pasta,” Giannis allegedly said. “But never duck smoke, Pat. Never, never. I like you, Pat. You want to win championship? I like you. You come to Milwaukee, Pat. I like you.”

While Beverley’s Giannis impression was immaculate, nobody expected this to become a reality so soon. Beverley seemed to have a settled role in Philly and lost it within half a season. With the Bucks, he has had to bury his beef with Damian Lillard as the franchise hopes to make a second-half push with Doc Rivers as coach to win a title this season.
