Even though the Los Angeles Clippers have players like Paul George and Kawhi Leonard, they will always remain second-fiddle to the Los Angeles Lakers.

So much so that Paul George recently talked about how it feels to play in Lakerland, while donning the jersey of the Clippers.

“It’s funny because you do feel like you’re in Lakerland,” George said. “I remember when I first got traded to the Clippers, We [were] walking around, and all they were saying was, ‘Oh PG, congrats, congrats, you’re coming to L.A. – you should be a Laker.’

“What? Like, do you not know there’s another team here, right? And to be honest, that was the first time I heard that, and since then, it’s been like 500 other times. When people see me out in public, it’s like, ‘Oh, what’s up, Paul George? You should be a Laker!’”

Considering the Lakers are one of the best teams in the history of the NBA, L.A. will always belong to them.

But at the same time, George believes that’s one of the biggest reasons why winning an NBA Championship with the Clippers would mean more than winning it with the Lakers.

Paul George Wanted To Be A Laker After Requesting A Trade From The Pacers

Paul George may be playing for the Clippers right now, but deep down he has always been a fan of the Purple and Gold.

In fact, back in 2017, when George demanded a trade from the Pacers, the Lakers were his first choice.

“When I came out and asked for a trade, I knew Indiana was going to trade me wherever they can get the best value,” George said. “We were trying to protect going somewhere that I really didn’t want to go. Obviously, I wanted to come back home. Lakers was, you know, first – my idol went there.”

George’s wish was never fulfilled as he was traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder by the Pacers. While PG13 could have joined the Lakers in 2018 when he entered free agency, he decided to stay with the Thunder.

A year later, OKC Thunder traded George to the Clippers. So while the 32-year-old is currently playing in the city of Angels, he is not donning the iconic Purple and Gold jersey.
