Paul Pierce cleared up the rumors surrounding his wheelchair game, saying he had a sprained MCL, and didn’t poop in his pants. And in what came as a hilarious dig, Kevin Garnett was having none of it.
The Celtics legend made the reveal when he sat down for an interview with the team’s stars, Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, and Marcus Smart. “I sprained my MCL,” Pierce explained. “Don’t believe all the rumors I had to go to the bathroom.”

Garnett quickly intervened asking, “what rumors?” To which Pierce doled out more details. ” You, you were there,” and Garnett played along with surprise etched all over his face.
“Everybody was talking about I had to take a s**t. Get the f*** outta here.” When Garnett repeatedly asked him if he sprained his MCL, Pierce stuck to his story. “You act like you can’t play on a MCL. You ain’t never did that?”
“We got social media, everybody spins their own narratives. So that’s I sprained my MCL. What do you think I’m holding my knee for? The doctor told me to put no weight on it, so then they carried me. I didn’t say go get the wheelchair!”
The infamous wheelchair incident has had a fair share of conspiracy theories over the years. From pooping himself to just faking an injury, there have been enough flip-flop stories doing the rounds, but Pierce has now rolled out his version of the story and stuck to it, even if it meant the Celtics stars and Garnett was left in splits.

The wheelchair incident may have made for ample drama, but Paul Pierce wasn’t one to let that affect his performance on the field in the 2008 NBA Finals. While he was wheeled off, he did return to the court on his own later and drilled 22 points that included back-to-back threes to help the Celtics win 98-88.
He would eventually go on to have two more 20+ point games along with one 38-point performance to put the screws on the Los Angeles Lakers. He averaged 21.8 points, 6.3 assists, and 4.5 rebounds in 6 games helping Boston clinch their 17th title by pipping LA 4-2, and was named Finals MVP.
His confession in the latest interview comes as a rather dicey response. Especially after he had told ESPN (via Business Insider). “I have a confession to make,” before Game 2 of the 2019 NBA Finals. “I just had to go to the bathroom.”
