Paul Pierce believes a healthy version of Kawhi Leonard will take the Los Angeles Clippers to the top of the West.

Leonard has some decent production, averaging 23.8 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 3.4 assists in his last five games. His season numbers read 16.3 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 3.5 assists, suggesting that his time on the floor surely increases the Clippers’ chances of recording wins and making a surge in the standings.

Speaking on KG Certified, former NBA star Pierce felt that the best version of Leonard was key in helping the side win and even go the distance.

The Truth might be onto something.

Kawhi has been coming on as of late, and the @laclippers currently sit 1.5 games back from the top of the West

Leonard has had a rather stop-start season finding his way back from injury. He’s played only 13 games this season, but his performances show that he’s an impact player when on the hardwood.

Kawhi Leonard Is Focused On The Playoffs

It might sound like the Clippers superstar is thinking long-term. And his immediate goal is to play in the postseason.

He even admitted that the regular season doesn’t matter to him as much, and that received some mixed reactions from fans and experts.

Kawhi Leonard: “I’m not worried about tonight… I don’t want to be here tonight. I’m focusing on the end of the year. Playoff basketball. Doesn’t matter about tonight.”

Prior to the start of the season, the Clippers were bolstered by the arrival of John Wall and were immediately looked at as title contenders. However, they were hampered by Leonard and Paul George’s absences for some of the skirmishes.

At the time of writing, the Clippers are fifth in the West with a 19-15 record. They won two of their last three games. The side plays the Detroit Pistons next, followed by the Toronto Raptors. Leonard’s health and form will be crucial for the side as they look to cement their case for a top-five finish.
