The Phoenix Suns and James Harden could cross paths this offseason, as they both finished the 2022-23 NBA season on a really low note. First, the Suns couldn’t beat the Denver Nuggets in the West semis and parted ways with their head coach.

Harden couldn’t get past the Boston Celtics in the same round, losing to the C’s in seven games. Now, the Beard’s future is up in the air, as many rumors place him out of the Sixers. The Houston Rockets are a good candidate to land him, but the Suns could make a move for him, too.

“With free agency pending for James Harden, I’m hearing there is another team prominently on his radar in addition to Houston. That team is the Phoenix Suns,” NBA TV contributor Brian Geltzeiler writes.

It’s unclear how this would work if Harden previously played with Kevin Durant in Brooklyn, and that experiment didn’t end well. The Beard forced his way out of the Nets and landed in Philadelphia, where he failed to win a championship again.

His relationship with KD appears to be fixed now, but on the court, things can be totally different. Durant is reportedly reluctant to be teammates with Kyrie Irving again, and perhaps he feels the same about Harden.

This move could be seen as nothing new for the Suns, as they have two players who failed to show up in the postseason and would add a third star that has been criticized for his underwhelming performances in the playoffs.

James Harden Appears To Be Out Of Philadelphia After Another Collapse

Harden has more options around the league, especially the Rockets. After leaving the team in 2021, he’s been trying to find his place in the world, but Brooklyn and Philadelphia weren’t that.

The Rockets have an ambitious plan now, and Harden could be their leader. This offseason will answer all these questions, as many teams around the league have big decisions to make.
