Joe Biden has broken the sort of drought that NBA teams endured after Barack Obama ended his second mandate as the president of the United States. After the controversial figure Donald Trump was elected as the new president in 2016, things changed for the NBA.

Trump’s political views clashed with many players and coaches in the NBA, which often saw him taking shots at some stars in the league. LeBron James was his favorite target, but he also took shots at Steve Kerr and the Golden State Warriors. That’s why when the Dubs won back-to-back titles in 2017 and 2018, Trump didn’t invite them to the White House, and the Warriors didn’t lose sleep over that.

Now that Biden is in office, the last two NBA champions have visited the presidential house. Last season, the Milwaukee Bucks paid a visit to the POTUS, with Giannis Antetokounmpo even joking that he would run for office in 2024

President Joe Biden Showed Total Support To The Golden State Warriors

This year, Biden also invited the Warriors, and sent a big message to his predecessor, making it clear that the 2022 NBA champions can visit the presidential house whenever they want. Even former POTUS Barack Obama congratulated Curry for this win, showing how different things are now.

“Let me just say that the Golden State Warriors are always welcome in this White House,” Biden said Tuesday, via ESPN

The president also praised the Warriors for overcoming the bad couple of seasons they had recently, recalling that they had to go through some bad things to be where they are right now.

“The last couple of years were pretty tough,” Biden said. “Critics wondered if this team was gone for good as a championship team.”

The Warriors are trying to recover their best level now after a tumultuous start to the season. They have work to do to turn things around but you can never sleep on a championship team. The Dubs are ready to show a different face before the playoffs start and then defend their crown on the big stage.
