We were all witnesses to history on Tuesday night as LeBron James became the NBA’s all-time leading scorer. He did it with a silky smooth fadeaway jumper toward the end of the third quarter against the Oklahoma City Thunder and was showered with praise from all corners.

Stars like Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry were among a host of players who honored the King for this phenomenal accomplishment. His family also congratulated him for breaking the record and Nike released a fantastic tribute video for LeBron, which has since gone viral.

In what was a bit of an unexpected surprise, U.S. President Joe Biden also applauded the Los Angeles Lakers superstar for this feat with a video message that was played in the arena!

“LeBron congratulations! With your whole heart and soul, you broke a hallowed record. You elevated the game and more than that, like Kareem and Bill Russell and others who came before you, you challenged and inspired the nation to be better, do better, and live up to our full promise. Keep it going, man. Keep the faith and congratulations to you and your wonderful family. Your mom Gloria, your wife Savannah, and your beautiful children, Bronny, Bryce, and Zhuri. God bless you all!”

LeBron did endorse Biden when he was running for Presidency, so the two men clearly do have a lot of respect for each other. It also speaks to how great of an achievement it is, that the President of the country thought it was deserving of a message from him. Some Lakers fans though, clearly aren’t too high on Biden, as they booed him when the message was being played.

You would hardly ever find a President that is universally loved and Biden certainly has his fair share of critics. He’d be hoping to win over a lot of them, but ultimately, there are only so many people that you can please.
