The city of Los Angeles is home to two NBA teams – The Lakers and the Clippers. When it comes to legacy, the latter is no match for the former. After all, the Lakers are one of the most legendary franchises in NBA history.
On the other hand, the Clippers are relatively newer and haven’t even reached the NBA finals for once in their history. This is a general idea of how things are for both teams.
But when we take the recent years into account, the Clippers have started to catch up to the Lakers. Not in terms of championships, of course, but the Clippers are dominating them in the regular season.
It is even more evident by looking at the current standings of the two sides in the league. As of now, the Clippers have a record of 35-33 and hold the eighth seed in the West. It might not seem like a huge achievement, but the Clippers are playing without their two best players.
Despite that, they are above the Lakers, who are currently 9th in the conference with an underwhelming record of 28-37. Keeping that in mind, Clippers guard Reggie Jackson made a comparison about the difference between the two teams’ fans. He revealed:
“Clippers Nation the heart, it truly LA. No shots at them over there, but they’re the lights. They’re the bright lights, they’re Hollywood. They’re the show, but I feel like we’re definitely the heart of the city. We’re here for the people. It’s always no shots, but I feel like me not being from Los Angeles. I feel like the Lakers are what you come to LA for. The appeal, the lights, it’s amazing. Once you come to LA…Palmdale, IE, throughout LA, I feel like this organization embodies LA.”

Although Jackson made it pretty clear that he wasn’t a shot at the Purple and Gold, Lakers fans will most probably overlook that part.
It won’t be a surprise if Jackson is welcomed with boos when the Clippers play against the Lakers at crypto.com Arena.
