The Los Angeles Lakers were in great form prior to facing the Chicago Bulls on Sunday night. The Bulls never even allowed the Lakers to have a shot at winning and registered a comfortable victory.

One of the biggest reasons behind the Lakers’ defeat was the reduced involvement of Anthony Davis. Former Lakers star and current NBA analyst Robert Horry explained how Darvin Ham and AD’s teammates are to blame for not giving the ball enough to Davis against the Bulls.

“It’s seven games left and Darvin Ham said this just a couple of games ago, it was his fault for not calling more plays for AD. It’s a little late to have these excuses for AD not having more than eight shots. I’m blaming AD, I’m blaming Darvin, and I’m blaming his teammates because when you got a guy as dominant as AD, I said this to his father, he should waive off plays. He should say, ‘No, I’m not running this play. I’m going to block, you give me the rock.’ And that’s what he has to do… This is unacceptable for him to only get eight shots in a game.”

Over the last few weeks, Anthony Davis has been the driving force behind the Lakers’ winning streak. Even after knowing that, head coach Darvin Ham seemingly forgot to call plays for Davis in the 108-118 defeat against the Bulls.

Looking at AD’s stats, he recorded just 15 points, 9 rebounds, and 5 assists in the game. Moreover, he was 6-8 from the field. Considering every game is extremely crucial for the Lakers right now, it seems a bit odd to see Davis attempt just eight shots.

Darvin Ham Has A Tendency To Forget About Calling Plays For Anthony Davis

If Anthony Davis had been more involved in the offense against the Bulls, the Lakers might have won the game. Unfortunately, due to Darvin Ham’s mistakes, the Purple and Gold are now once again below. 500, with a 37-38 record.

One would think this was the first time that Ham had made such a mistake. Well, Ham was on the verge of making the same fault against the Lakers’ earlier game vs. the Phoenix Suns. Ham even acknowledged the fact that the reason behind Davis’ dominant second half vs. the Suns was that he started to call more plays for him.

“His dumba*s coach started calling more plays for him. He and I have talked, and I told him I will force feed him, just be aggressive going to the rim. He did that. He had a swagger about him, he wasn’t settling. He’s one of the best mid-range shooters I have been around. More than capable of knocking down threes, but you have to love living in the paint tonight. That’s the AD we need.”

The Lakers are currently the ninth seed in the Western Conference and will play against the Bulls on Wednesday night. Fans will hope to see the dominant version of Anthony Davis to bolster the chances of the team taking revenge against the Bulls.
