Being a quality role player in the NBA has a lot of value for organizations. During his 30s, Ron Harper embraced that role, and it helped him in winning five NBA Championships.

Now, after more than two decades of being retired, Harper supports his son, Ron Harper Jr., in hopes of fulfilling his dream of reaching the NBA. The five-time NBA champion posted a video of his son while heaping huge praise on him. But an NBA fan on Twitter decided to make fun of Harper for that.

“It’s easy to be better than you that ain’t no damn accomplishment.”

Harper took offense to the tweet and clapped back at the fan. The former Bulls player’s tweet was only the start of the heated argument with the fan.

“Ask your mom then!!!!”

“‘Ask your mom then’ N***a you’re like 65 years old with mama jokes. I’m gonna rub alcohol on my hands and fire that bald Mr. Clean a** scalp you got up, old man.”

“What’s your address then I’ll show up!!!”

“You in the bay right now?? I’m literally at Oracle Arena, boy, but if you ain’t, it’s 781 you overrated as f**k trade Harper for 10 second-round picks away.”

“Lol jokes YouTube me then.”

“I know who you is. I’m not finna waste my time YouTubing your boring a** highlights you only known for keeping Jordan Gatorade on ice in that rigged league. I rather watch JR Smith, Larry Hughes, and Shannon Brown highlights buddy.”

“Enjoy, Mr. Nobody.”

“Bro, why you talking like a star? If it wasn’t for the league, you’d be nobody you wouldn’t even compare to me on this blacktop maf**kas know Bryce Harper unless you a die-hard Jordan fan don’t nobody know no damn Ron Harper.”

The argument went south pretty quickly. It seems like Harper has stopped replying to the fan. It is obvious from the fan’s comments that he is most likely unaware of how great of a player Harper was prior to his ACL tear injury in the 1989-90 season.

While Harper won NBA titles after becoming a role player, he could never reach his true potential.

Ron Harper Accepted His Role As A Defensive Point Guard To Win NBA Championships

For a player, who was once compared to Michael Jordan, becoming a role player must have been tough.

But at the same time, accepting that role helped him in becoming a five-time NBA champion.

“I love scoring the ball and was good, but in order to win, I accept my role and won 5 in 6 years, the ultimate goal… Phil Jackson saw me as a point and a defense of player that could do it all… you better look at my Cavs and Clippers days!!!!! Respect!”

Prior to becoming a defensive-minded point guard for the Chicago Bulls, Harper only failed to average over 18.0 PPG once in 10 seasons.

While giving up on scoring must have been hard for Harper, he would happily make that choice again as it helped him in winning five NBA titles.
