The Los Angeles Lakers just can’t seem to put together a good run. Coming out of the NBA All-Star break, the Lakers have lost all three of their games, with their latest loss coming last night at the hands of the Dallas Mavericks. If they can’t get wins over this final stretch of the season, the Lakers could be in serious jeopardy of missing the playoffs.
But Russell Westbrook doesn’t seem to be too concerned about that. In the post-game press conference, Russell Westbrook was asked about his belief in the Los Angeles Lakers making the playoffs this season. Westbrook noted that he is extremely confident in the team making the playoffs, as they just need to string together a few good performances to get the ball rolling (2:29 onwards).

“Super confident that we’re going to be alright… Because I got confidence in this group. Like I always have. We can play the best teams. I’m not worried about nobody we have to play. We’ve beaten the best teams, we’ve lost to some of the worst teams. So, our confidence and my confidence in this group is extremely high because I know what we’re capable off. We put our mind to it and do exactly what we need to do on a night in, night out basis.”
Russ also spoke about his own performance on the night, noting that he needs to be better. But Russ isn’t alone in being confident about the Lakers, as LeBron James warned the rest of the NBA to not count the Los Angeles Lakers out until the season is over.
It is easier said than done for the Lakers right now. One of their biggest problems is defense, as the team has gone from one of the best defensive teams in the NBA to one of the worst in the course of a season. So there has to be a massive change from the Lakers if they want to make the playoffs.
