Savannah James didn’t always have the easiest time growing up. As she explained on her podcast ‘Everybody’s Crazy,’ she would often have to resort to violence in High School in order to protect herself from bullies.

“I had to defend myself,” James said. “I had a lot of that. I had girls who didn’t like me and couldn’t tell anybody why they didn’t like me. My whole group of friends, it was tough. It was a lot.”

Savannah has been with LeBron, a 4x NBA champion, since High School, but she attributes the fights to sticking up for her old friends. She was just looking out for her people at the time and tried to make peace the majority of the time.

“I do feel like a lot of the fights that I had, it was me bein’ just an ally of my friends,” she said. “I don’t feel like I really fought a fight that was my fight — ’cause I was nice. I feel like I got along with a majority, everybody.”

Savannah has really never been about the drama. Since being married to LeBron, she’s mostly kept her head down save for a few interviews and her new podcast. As the chosen one of basketball royalty, she inherited the celebrity status through her relationship with LeBron but she’s proven that he made the right choice to pick her.

As the youngest of five children, Savannah knows how to handle a chaotic environment and she’s been able to run the James household with smooth efficiency. Over the years, she’s developed her skills as a businesswoman and, like LeBron, has used her resources to help the greater good.

“I’m still a very private person,” she told Cleveland Magazine in 2017 on her mentorship programs. “But these things reflect the passion that I have as far as giving back, the philanthropic part of me. So with those things, I don’t mind stepping out.”

As her two sons prepare to make the jump to the NBA, Savannah has been there every step of the way to show her support and provide whatever she can to ensure her children’s success. She’s doing the same thing for LeBron as his biggest emotional supporter off the court.

In many ways, Savannah has been the perfect partner for the King and his success can be at least partially tied to her influence. She helps to maintain the family image, stays out of controversy, and has maintained loyalty after all these years. It’s a rare thing to see in the NBA these days, especially so for a family that is having their every move watched.

Did Dating LeBron James Cause Fights For Savannah?

Savannah has been with LeBron since High School and her co-host, April McDaniel, suggested that their relationship was actually the root cause behind all the fighting she experienced.

“I would hate you too if your boyfriend was LeBron James,” McDaniel said. “But not really. I really wouldn’t hate you. But I feel like, yes. They’re like, ‘Why couldn’t it be me?’ That’s why they was mad at you. No young women should be fighting.”

While LeBron was not yet an NBA megastar at this time, he was still good enough to where everyone knew what kind of life he would have. Savannah, who was with him from the very beginning, became the envy of girls everywhere at St. Vincent-St. Mary High School.

For many, it was just easier to try and intimidate Savannah instead of trying to seduce LeBron but none of the tricks ever worked. Despite jealousy, hostility, and years in the spotlight together, the couple is still just as strong, and their relationship has never wavered.
