Russell Westbrook has become Shannon Sharpe’s favorite victim after two tumultuous months on the Los Angeles Lakers. The point guard landed from Washington when the Wizards acquired Kyle Kuzma, Montrezl Harrell, and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope from the Purple and Gold.

Many people believed this move would put the Lakers at the top of the league again, but things haven’t worked out for them so far. Westbrook’s struggles have prompted people to ask for his departure from Los Angeles, even though he’s confident he can turn things around sooner than later.

Still, Sharpe isn’t happy with the player and has taken big shots at the former MVP over the past couple of weeks. The NFL Hall of Famer even compared Russ to a pretty girl, explaining why everybody leaves him after playing together. More recently, Shannon criticized Westbrook again, apologizing to Kevin Durant for saying anything bad about him in the past.

KD and Brodie never won a championship in Oklahoma City and many people blamed Durant for that. Well, Sharpe changed his mind and now says Kevin should have been named the best player in the NBA after playing with Westbrook for so many years.

“Kevin Durant should’ve been the best player in the NBA for having to deal with that for a decade… Kevin Durant stomached this for an entire decade. I apologize for anything I might’ve said about KD. I didn’t realize until [Westbrook] played with other players that’s comparable, to see him play alongside LeBron James and for Kevin Durant to do what he did…”

It’s pretty clear that Sharpe, just like the rest of the Lakers Nation, has unhappy with Westbrook’s performances. His turnovers are a major source of concerns for the Lakers, who have been linked with another controversial point guard in Ben Simmons. Fans think that getting rid of Westbrook is the solution for the Lakers’ struggles, but time will tell how this situation unfolds.

Russ is averaging less than 20 points per game for the first time since his sophomore year, and the Lakers are two games below .500. Something must change for this team before it’s too late.
