In his 19th year, LeBron James’ amazing statistical numbers were overshadowed by the Lakers’ abysmal performance. As LeBron tried to carry his team to the playoffs, they kept losing games until the bitter end, when they finished 11th in the West.
It was a miserable season in Los Angeles, and many Lakers fans are not sure what to expect going forward.
But for FOX Sports analyst Shannon Sharpe, LeBron’s legacy is already set in stone, even if the 2022-23 campaign turns out to be another dud.
“LeBron’s legacy is secure. LeBron James arguably might have had one of his greatest seasons, and we know he’s had great seasons. So, you’re asking a guy in Year 20, never have we seen a guy be this head and shoulders above his teammates.”
According to Shannon, all the questions this upcoming season will revolve around Westbrook, who has yet to prove he can win alongside LeBron and Davis.
“We know a healthy LeBron and a healthy AD, we know what they’re capable of. We don’t have to speculate. This is all about Russ. Can they find a role which he can thrive and contribute without being the Russ he’s been at OKC, at Houston and at the Wizards.”

In 2020, the Purple and Gold were named champions of the basketball world after a Finals win over the Miami Heat. At that moment, LeBron James and Anthony Davis proved once and for all what they were capable of when together and fully healthy.
Sadly, both players have struggled with injuries since, and the acquisition of Russell Westbrook completely changed the team’s dynamic.
Now, there is a very real possibility that the Lakers will miss the playoffs again. Fortunately for King James, he has already done enough to answer any questions and doubts anyone might have about his game.
