Russell Westbrook once again finds himself in the middle of a storm, his recent split with his long-time agent has caused a lot of discussions. Things with the Lakers seem to have gotten worse as well, latest reports have said that the two parties are heading for an ‘inevitable divorce’, with LeBron James also seemingly throwing shade at Russ following the situation with his agent.

It’s safe to say that Westbrook’s return to Los Angeles, where he grew up, has been far from a fairytale. The Lakers went all in to get the former MVP last season but he failed to gel with his teammates and his performance also fell off drastically. Many have written Westbrook off as a player on the decline, but there are still fans that believe Russ can turn it around.

And one of those fans happens to be none other than Shaquille O’Neal. Shaq shared a story with a compilation of videos backing Westbrook to make a comeback next season.

The video itself is an inspirational message to Westbrook, who could use some support from fans after all the slander he has received.

“They’re laughing at you. They think you’re weak. Show them, Russ. Show them.”

Russell Westbrook is a triple-double machine at his best, he has every tool necessary to become an elite player in the league again. A poor season doesn’t have to be the end for Russ, he has shown the tenacity and grit to overcome his doubters throughout his career.

Now whether it happens with the Lakers or not remains to be seen, as it isn’t really in Westbrook’s hands. If the team can find a trade for him, they may send him away regardless. But wherever he does end up playing next season, Russ will surely be playing with a chip on his shoulder.
