Shaquille O’Neal was working on TNT last night and got to watch LeBron James set the all-time NBA scoring record live as an analyst.
Shaq and LBJ are former teammates and had a post-game conversation where James declared himself the GOAT after earning the incredible honor of being the NBA’s greatest regular-season scorer. He already clinched the playoff scoring record in 2017.
After the game was over and LeBron earned the record for himself, O’Neal shared an animated video that saw James walk up a red carpet surrounded by NBA legends. The carpet leads to a throne where Michael Jordan and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar are waiting to put a crown on LBJ’s head which reads ‘all-time leading scorer.’
This was a fantastically made video and really highlights how LeBron is not just another player in the NBA but a legend who’s managing to extend his career and re-write what we know about how long players can compete at the highest level.
Will LeBron James Add Another Playoff Appearance To His Resume?
There was a point where LeBron James being in the playoffs was not even a taking point because he would always be in that position, no matter how bad his team is. Sadly, James is no longer at that level to carry a team single-handedly as he had done in Cleveland before, be it in 2007 or 2018.
He’s tried his best this season, but it seems more and more unlikely with every loss the team endures. They lost last night in LeBron’s history-making game, making the Lakers fall 5 games below .500 on the season. If they can’t make trades to improve the roster, it seems LeBron will miss the playoffs for the second consecutive season and for the third time in his time as a Laker.
