There is perhaps not a more iconic duo in the world of sports than Skip Bayless and LeBron James, Bayless’ constant criticism of anything LeBron does is the stuff of legend at this point. Considering that the Los Angeles Lakers have struggled consistently throughout this season, it’s no surprise that Bayless has enjoyed bashing the King now and again, but his latest shots come for something off the court.

LeBron James was in attendance at the Super Bowl on Sunday as the Los Angeles Rams claimed a narrow victory against the Cincinnati Bengals. This is the 3rd championship for the city of Los Angeles in a different sport in as many years, counting the Dodgers’ World Series win and the Lakers’ NBA championship in 2020. This led Bron to suggest that perhaps the three teams should have a joint parade to celebrate this success.

While many enjoyed this idea from the King, there was also a lot of criticism for it. Fans accused LeBron of trying to get in on the Rams’ shine and reminded him that the Lakers are struggling to stay in the play-in tournament and are far away from the championship team they were 2 years ago. And inevitably, Skip Bayless himself sounded off on the suggestion, dubbing the Lakers’ championship a ‘pandemic title’.

“WAIT, now LeBron wants to piggyback the Rams’ championship by suggesting a joint parade for the Rams, Lakers and Dodgers??? Come on, Bron. You won a pandemic title 2 years ago. You were a play-in team last yr. Now you’re 5 under .500. UPDATE YOUR RESUME. Let em have their moment.”

While trying to discredit the Lakers winning a ring in the Bubble is harsh, it certainly might be weird to the current titleholders in the NBA and MLB to see the Lakers and Dodgers participating in a parade to celebrate older titles. In any case, LeBron’s suggestion seems likely far from serious, and the city of Los Angeles is free to enjoy their recent sporting successes however they will!
