Russell Westbrook has had a really rough year for the Los Angeles Lakers. Despite his solid box score stats, many have blasted him this season for inconsistent performances.

There were times during the season when Russell Westbrook took shots at Frank Vogel, and many people believe that Vogel wasn’t the right coach to get the best out of Russell Westbrook. Recently, Snoop Dogg defended Russell Westbrook against criticism and pointed the blame at Vogel for the star’s poor performances.

“He’s a killer. He’ll find himself out of it. Remember, the coach wasn’t f—— with him. Coach used to sit him on the bench, take him out the game. That f—- with your mentality too, when you’re this great, and you’ve got this coach telling you, ‘Sit down, hold on,’ then when you get in, you definitely reckless because you ain’t in a groove. Basketball is a groove thing. The coach and the player have to be on the same page to where you understand my minutes affect the way I play, and by you sitting me down, you affecting the way I play because now I can’t do the things I normally do. Now I’m out here rushing and trying to get people involved instead of just running the game. Russell ain’t never sit on the bench… So now you got him sitting the bench for the Lakers? Come on man.

There’s no doubt that Russell Westbrook is still a starting-level point guard, even if he isn’t the MVP-level player that he was with the Oklahoma City Thunder. His ability to push the pace, his rebounding, and his passing are all very important to a team’s success.

Hopefully, we see Russell Westbrook end up in a destination where he can find success this offseason, whether it be the Los Angeles Lakers or otherwise. There’s no doubt that he can still be an impactful player, and perhaps we’ll get to see him showcase that next season.
