Steph Curry On Playing With A New Generation Of NBA Stars: “I Love Welcoming Them But I Will Not Pass The Torch Too Soon…”

During Steph Curry’s 40-point explosion against the Rockets on Monday, there was a turning point in the game that change everything.

According to the Golden State star, it was some trash talk by Houston’s Kevin Porter Jr. that sparked his run in the fourth and delivered another signature night for the 2x MVP.

But then in the fourth, Stephen Curry erupted. He scored 21 of his 40 points in the final frame giving Golden State enough juice to get the 122-108 victory. And it all started with Kevin Porter Jr.s’ trash talk on Curry.

“It’s a nice game within the game,” Curry said. “It’s not the first time and it won’t be the last time. I started bringing it to another level. You always have it, but you definitely bring another level of competitiveness when you have fun stuff like that. I take it all as entertainment, but sometimes you need a little boost.”

Before the game, Curry was in the middle of one of a major shooting slump — probably one of the worst of his entire career.

Still, Curry made sure to remind everyone who he is and as he said to the media after the game, he isn’t quite ready to give up his place at the top of basketball.

“I was just joking about JK, Moody, Jalen their all the same age, they were like 13, 14 when we won our first championship,” Curry said to ClutchPoints. “Being side by side is kind of crazy…[I love] welcoming them and the new generation, that influence and all that but [I will] still not pass the torch too soon.”

The Davidson product turns 34 in March, meaning he is likely on the tail end of his storied career. With 7 All-Star appearances, 3 NBA Championships, and 2 MVPs, he has already cemented a place among the All-Time greats.

Over the next few years, who knows what more he could do with good health and a Warriors team that seems ready to reclaim their status as the best in the West.

In truth, Steph Curry should be feared more now than he ever was before.
