Despite being one of the most valuable franchises in the NBA, the New York Knicks haven’t been successful in the league for quite some time now. Last season, the Knicks finally ended their playoff drought as they were spearheaded by Julius Randle, who was having a breakout season.

Following that somewhat successful season, the Knicks were expected to further improve in the 2021-22 NBA season. Of course, that hasn’t been the case so far this season.

Moreover, things went over the boiling point in the Knicks’ recent fixture against the Brooklyn Nets. It is no news that the Nets have been struggling amidst Kevin Durant being injured and James Harden getting traded to the Philadelphia 76ers.

Even without their superstar players, the Nets made a sensational 28-point comeback against the Knicks. Upon seeing this outrageous loss, NBA analyst Stephen A. Smith just lost control and berated the Knicks. He said:

“The New York Knicks are a national disgrace, ladies and gentlemen. They are horrible. Thibbs, we’re hearing the New York Knicks organization ain’t too fond of him anymore, he may be out. I don’t give a damn if he’s gone tonight. Julius Randle, I’m done with him. Leon Rose. We’ve got inmates in state penitentiaries more visible than this man. He’s the president of basketball operations and we can’t find this man.

“They are trash. No KD, no Kyrie and no Ben Simmons and you lose a 28-point lead courtesy of a rookie by the name of Cam Thomas. The New York Knicks are trash. Spike Lee shouldn’t even show up for the rest of the season. Don’t go. Nobody goes. You’re horrible. I’m so done with this team. You just stink. This is a disgrace.”

It must have been quite frustrating for the Knicks fans to see their team struggle against a Nets team that was missing all its superstars.

The Knicks are now 12th in the Eastern Conference and have a record of 25-34. Unless they can somehow turn their season around after the NBA All-Star break, they are definitely missing the playoffs this season.

Will the Knicks fan ever see their franchise play well in this era? That remains a million-dollar question.
