When it comes to the sports scene, Stephen A. Smith is at the top of the food chain. As the face of ESPN and a fan favorite in the basketball community, he is enjoying plenty of fame and success as the world’s most successful broadcaster.

Apparently, Stephen A. is also considering a run for President. As he recently admitted on First Take (in a joking manner), he would consider running if ‘the people’ wanted him to.

“I said ‘If the American people wanted me to run for the presidency of the United States of America, I would strongly consider it’ And damnit I mean it!” Smith said. “Listen, it ain’t that big of a standard, I mean let’s call it what it is. I think I got a shot!”

With practically no political background, it’s hard to tell how serious Smith is about a potential presidential run. Considering the kinds of people we’ve seen on the ballot lately, it’s not as crazy as you think for Stephen A. to put his name in the ring.

Besides being an all-around likable guy, Smith certainly has a strong head on his shoulders. As a reporter, analyst, and co-host for decades, he knows how to communicate with others, solve problems, and identify problems that need attention.

Perhaps best of all is his fearless attitude, which has earned him a great amount of respect within the community.

“People don’t realize how many stories I’ve stopped from getting printed stopped from getting publicized or whatever just because it was grossly unfair and it was very presumptuous and we had no business in the industry doing those kind of things so when you know you’re fighting those battles you know there’s a level of influence that comes along with it,” said Stephen A. “So when somebody tries to come along and be like what the hell you just doing? You just running your mouth. I laugh because the instant thought that comes to my mind is you clearly don’t know my background, you don’t know my history, you don’t know the sacrifices that I’ve made and how much money I would be making even now if I was willing to sell you out but I’ve never been that guy.”

It’s not for me to say how Stephen A. would do as President, and it’s highly unlikely that we’ll ever get the chance to find out. Despite his popularity, Stephen A.’s lack of experience in the political world makes his chances of winning an election pretty slim.

But how cool would it be if the guy actually became President? Going from a basketball insider and broadcaster to the most powerful man in the free world is a wild leap that we’ve never quite seen before.
