Kawhi Leonard remains one of the most discussed topics in the NBA, and once again, it’s not for the best reasons. The 2x NBA champion couldn’t play in Game 5 of the Phoenix Suns vs. Los Angeles Clippers where his team was eliminated from the playoffs.

In the wake of this result, Stephen A. Smith had some things to say about Kawhi, once again claiming that Leonard should retire from the game given his lack of availability.

“I’m not questioning his heart, I’m not questioning his courage, I’m not questioning any of that,” Smith said of Leonard on First Take this morning. “The man is a two-time champion. He’s a two-time [Finals] MVP…But he is the absolute worst superstar you could possibly have on your team. He’s barely ever there, and on top of it all, he does nothing to market or promote your franchise.”

Ever since he signed with the Clippers in 2019, Kawhi has struggled to be healthy, especially in the playoffs. The only time he and Paul George were good to go was in the bubble, and we all know what happened at the time.

Tyronn Lue says that with these two fully healthy, the Clippers have never lost a series, but the team has been unlucky when it comes to their two stars’ health. However, this has become a big ‘if’ for the Clippers, who once again fell short in the postseason.

Kawhi Leonard Has Been Diagnosed With A Torn Meniscus

Shams Charania of The Athletic reports that Kawhi has a torn meniscus that forced the Clippers to shut him down. There was no timetable for his return, and now that the injury has been revealed, it’ll be a while before we can talk about Leonard returning to the court.

The Clippers fought hard against the Suns, but without their two stars, the job was impossible to carry out. Hopefully, Kawhi can turn things around and next season they have a fair chance to compete for the NBA championship.
