Stephen A. Smith Would Like To Take Jimmy Kimmel’s Show On Late Night

"I would love to be the heir apparent to Jimmy Kimmel. I believe I could do it," Smith expressed his desire.

Stephen A. Smith expressed his desire to take Jimmy Kimmel’s role on late-night TV. Guess the household-name ESPN analyst has his sights set on his next gig.

Speaking to Sean Hannity on Fox News, “I am interested in doing late night,” Smith opined. “I would love to be the heir apparent to Jimmy Kimmel. I believe I could do it. I would throw everybody for a loop, my politics would throw people off because I’d be fair to everybody and I’d listen to everybody. It wouldn’t be one-sided, I’m not a one-sided kind of guy. I’m one-sided on issues, I’m not one-sided on ideology.”

Kimmel, another prominent TV personality himself hosts Jimmy Kimmel Live! on ABC, and Smith believed that the TV shows at night have leaned heavily towards the left — and that he would bring about balance.

“It should be a problem because the reality of the situation is there are more than 350 million Americans in this country and at least 170-180 million think conservatively like Sean Hannity, OK? We understand that, and whether you like it or not, that’s their reality.”

It should be noted that Smith now also headlines his new podcast, ‘Know Mercy With Stephen A. Smith’ and by the looks of it, he’s eager to expand and become the face of more content in the country. In addition, he already filled in for Kimmel once in 2021.

Does Stephen A. Smith Have What It Takes To Fill Jimmy Kimmel’s Boots?

Honestly, it would be unfair to compare the two since both Smith and Kimmel bring their own style and charm to the fore.

While Kimmel is sharp, witty, quirky, and comedic at best, the ESPN man has been vocal, objective, clear, and a tad bit eccentric — traits that do serve the purpose of a late show. Smith has been loved by people across the world for his scintillating analysis and his unique style of reportage.

He has been the face of ESPN’s shows for some time now, and those familiar with his work will surely vouch for what he brings to the table if he does indeed get a late show himself even if he doesn’t replace Kimmel.

Wishful thinking is seeing these two share screen space.  There’s no doubt that the ratings will skyrocket if Smith’s dream does indeed come true.
