Kevin Durant was once one of the more beloved superstars in the NBA, but those days are long gone at this point. When he was with the Oklahoma City Thunder, Durant was loved by almost the entire basketball world, but things would change drastically after he left them for the Golden State Warriors.
Many criticized his decision, calling it the weakest move in NBA history, as he was joining a 73-win team that had just knocked him out of the playoffs, and he was also teaming up with 2-time MVP Stephen Curry instead of trying to beat him. All that criticism that came his way seems to have changed Durant a little bit, too, as he is now prone to some outbursts, which was not the case during his time in OKC. His eventual departure from the Warriors had some drama, too, as rumors floated around that KD didn’t have the best of relations with Curry and Draymond Green.
Stephen Curry Says That He Loves Kevin Durant
So, when Kevin Durant requested a trade from the Nets and the Warriors emerged as a potential landing spot, many wondered if Curry would be open to a reunion. He recently spoke about the Warriors having conversations with him about it, and it was clear he had no issues. Steph also spoke about what he learned about KD during their time together.

“The idea of playing with KD and knowing who he is as a person, from our history in those three years, I think KD’s a really good dude. I think he is misunderstood. I think he has had certain things happen in his life that hurt his ability to trust people around him, in a sense of making him feel safe at all times. So all of those things, I understand, having played with him and gotten to know him. I love that dude.”
You can only wonder what transpired in Durant’s life that led to him having trust issues, and we are unlikely to ever find out. Curry clearly loves the man, though, which is great to see, and they were truly one of the greatest duos in NBA history.
Even though he had all these great things to say about Durant, Curry recently made it pretty clear that he would pick the 2022 title over the ones he won with KD all day, every day. It wasn’t necessarily a shot at Durant, though, as it is easy to understand why Curry would say that, as this most recent title would have meant so much to him. The team had been through so much adversity in the 2 years prior to winning this title, and it also netted him his first Finals MVP, so it was a pretty easy choice.
