This summer, legendary point guard Chris Paul was traded to the Golden State Warriors, and there are many on the team excited to have the veteran star. The Warriors got a no-nonsense leader on the court.
One of the players that have spoken highly of Chris Paul is franchise superstar Stephen Curry, who pointed out that the Warriors are “more mature” with his addition, but noted that hated losing Jordan Poole in a trade.
“It’s all about adjusting to what’s the reality, right? Like I hate that we lost [Jordan Poole]. I hate that we didn’t achieve our potential last year and every team has to find a way to get better, so the changes were made,” Curry said on a recent episode of the Dubs Talk podcast, via Erin Walsh of Bleacher Report.
“But I like where we are in the sense of the pieces fitting and having a lot of different looks from a rotation standpoint. We’re a little bit more mature now in the sense of experience, and I think that’s the pattern in the NBA of what affects winning.”
It will be interesting to see whether Stephen Curry and Chris Paul can coexist on the court. Both players are experienced veterans, so it is quite likely that they’ll figure things out and find a way to win together.
During the 2022-23 regular season, Chris Paul averaged 13.9 PPG, 4.3 RPG, and 8.9 APG for the Phoenix Suns. He can definitely help the Warriors win a championship, and we’ll see how the team does next season.
Paul Pierce Thinks This Will Be The Hardest Season Of Chris Paul’s Career
There is no doubt that Chris Paul may have to experience a shift in role this year, potentially coming off the bench for the Golden State Warriors. In fact, this is the reason Paul Pierce believes this may be the most difficult year of Chris Paul’s career.
“Let me tell you something, this is gonna be one of the toughest years of Chris’s career. Just mentally. You know why? Your whole career, you’re a starter, you got the ball in your hands. Now, you gotta make the adjustment mentally to coming off the bench. So now that’s a different type of preparation. You might come in off the bench and you don’t really got a lot of time to warm up. As an older player, that’s difficult.”
We will see how Chris Paul does in a bench role with the Warriors if it comes to that. There is still a chance that he may start, and we’ll see what ends up happening in the future.
