Team USA kicked off its 2023 FIBA World Cup group stage with a 99-72 win over New Zealand. Brandon Ingram struggled as he ended with 2 points, 2 rebounds, and 3 assists in 15 minutes of playing time.

Ingram recently expressed his frustration with his current role with Team USA. The 25-year-old claimed he’s not used to playing with reduced minutes, and it’s impacting his performances. In response to Brandon Ingram’s comments, head coach Steve Kerr made a bold prediction about the star.

“Nothing has really gone his way,” Kerr said, per The Athletic. “He hasn’t had a lot of opportunities, but I think that’ll change. I think his time is coming. He’s just gotta stay with it. The thing I’ve learned with FIBA is every night belongs to someone new.”

Kerr added: “I wouldn’t have guessed that Paolo would be our leading scorer last night, but all 12 guys are so talented that all it takes is a couple shots to go in, and any one of these guys can get going. I expect that to happen for B.I.”

In simple terms, Kerr wants Ingram to be patient and wait for his opportunity while donning Team USA colors. Paolo Banchero led the team in scoring versus New Zealand with 21. Banchero also had 4 rebounds and 1 assist.

Considering Team USA is loaded with talent, every game, a new star emerges for them. Keeping that in mind, all Ingram can do is wait for his turn and prove his worth to the coaches.

Anthony Edwards Reacts To Brandon Ingram’s Frustration With Current Role For Team USA

Anthony Edwards has emerged as a leader for Team USA players. The Minnesota Timberwolves superstar impressed fans with his performances.

Edwards reacted to Ingram’s recent comments about his current role with the team. The 22-year-old gave an honest response to his teammate’s struggles.

“He’s a superstar in the league, so he can figure it out on his own, but it’s nothing like somebody staying your ear,” Edwards said. “They stay in my ear. So, just keep talking to him, ’cause you know, a couple shots might not go his way.

“He might get a couple turnovers and get down. I mean, I get down sometimes because I turn it over or miss a couple shots.”

Ingram averaged 24.7 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 5.8 assists per game in the 2022-23 NBA season. Team USA will hope for him to snap out of his cold streak and deliver some important performances in the 2023 FIBA World Cup.
