Steve Kerr Says James Wiseman “Reminds Me Of Giannis Antetokounmpo”

James Wiseman started his NBA career with one of the best teams for the past five years. He landed in a different reality, though, as the Warriors that team that dominated everybody on their way to the Finals. Now the competition has gotten harder for them but Wiseman is ready to do whatever it takes to help his team.

The young center has been doing great things and he’s drawn some big comparisons from his teammates and coach. He’s showing flashes of what he can do in the league in the future. For instance, Steve Kerr recently revealed what he thinks of when he sees Wiseman play, naming Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo.

At some point during the Warriors’ win against the Detroit Pistons on Wednesday night, he made a play just like Giannis. Kerr didn’t forget about that and he praised Wiseman for that after the game was over.

“His ‘Giannis Play’ was pretty impressive, too, in transition,” Warriors coach Kerr said, via NBC Sports.

The former Memphis Tiger has gotten better in recent games and Kerr has noticed that. Now Wiseman is feeling more comfortable on the court and the Dubs can’t be happier about that.

“James had a really good stretch in the fourth, with his size and his presence in the paint, for the first time really, in the four games,” Kerr said. “It looked like he sort of knew what his job was — to protect the rim and not foul. … I thought he had his best defensive stretch of the season in that fourth quarter. He made some really big plays.”

Even Stephen Curry supported Kerr’s comments, saying that the young center looked like Giannis with his play.

“It did look like a Giannis-type situation,” Curry said. “It was awesome. I think he’s really starting to figure out when to be aggressive.”

With the absence of Klay Thompson and Draymond Green, the Golden State Warriors need to get as much help as they can and the emergence of Wiseman can be a great thing for them. He with six points and six rebounds.
