Kevin Durant is one of the most unique players in NBA history. His success is going to create a new mold of forwards who are almost seven-foot-tall but dominate by using their size and lankiness to be an all-around offensive threat on the floor. We are already seeing a player like Brandon Ingram follow that recipe.

Steve Kerr played a crucial part in Durant’s career, being the coach that finally made him a champion in 2017 and 2018. Durant proved he was worth it as he emerged with the Finals MVP for both those wins.

Kerr has always maintained that Durant is one of the greatest talents to ever play basketball. He said it in 2020 when his Warriors missed the bubble in the year after Durant’s departure. He repeated it in 2021 by saying Durant is more gifted than Michael Jordan.

Kerr has made it three years of mentioning Durant’s incredible gifts of basketball by saying that Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, and Larry Bird would all say that KD is the most gifted player they have ever seen play basketball.

“I think the guys who are charter members of that club [Icons], Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, they’re in awe of Kevin because, personally, I think Kevin is the most gifted one of them all.”

Having the size that Durant has with his shooting touch and mobility is incredibly rare to see. We have seen tall forwards who are great shooters, but none of them have come close to replicating the proficiency with which Durant does his damage.

Players like LeBron James are incredibly gifted as well, considering his unique athletic features make him a one-of-one that we may never see again. But in terms of basketball, Durant gas every skill and more, while also being gifted with the size to dominate like no other could.
