The relationship between the best player on a team and the head coach is essential for a team to succeed. Without them getting along with each other, you cannot expect the team to win a ring in the NBA.
Stephen Curry and Steve Kerr arguably have one of the best player-coach relationships in the NBA. The two always have each other’s backs and never shy away from praising each other when required.
Recently, Steve Kerr did so by saying that whenever he is done coaching, he owes a big thank you to Steph for his success. After all, Curry and Kerr have won three NBA Championships together and are on their way to winning another one soon.
The duo defeated the Boston Celtics in Game 5 of the 2022 NBA Finals and took a 3-2 lead in the series. While the Dubs won the game, Steph had a nightmarish outing. He finished the game with just 16 points and was unable to knock down even a single three-point as he finished the game shooting 0-9 from the 3-point line.
Instead of being critical of this performance, Kerr backed Curry and understood why he had a poor shooting night. He explained that in the postgame conference to everyone else as well.

“I think Steph was probably due for a game like this. He’s been shooting the ball so well that, at some point, he was going to have a tough night. But we’ve got a lot of talent and a lot of depth that can make up for that. And our guys did a good job of that tonight.”
Other players on the Warriors’ team certainly picked up the slack. As a result, the Dubs ended up winning the game by 10 points, despite their best player having an off-night.
Either way, Steph will most likely make a stunning comeback in Game 6 of the series. In fact, his teammate Draymond Green expects that to happen. But will that be the case? We will find an answer to that very soon.
