The Difference Between Ben Simmons And Jimmy Butler: One Walks Out Of Practice To Ask A Trade, The Other Beat Starters With The 3rd Squad

2 Min Read

The Ben Simmons saga took another turn on Tuesday when the Australian player refused to participate in some defensive drills with the rest of the team. His refusal led Doc Rivers to throw him out of practice and send the player home

This situation has sparked many rumors and speculation about Simmons’ future with the franchise. The point guard is trying to force his way out of Philadelphia, and these attitudes aren’t helping his case. They need to make a decision on the player’s future to avoid any more drama, but Daryl Morey and co. are willing to take the risk.

Fans remembered how the Sixers got a disgruntled star in 2018 and how Jimmy Butler demanded a trade from the Minnesota Timberwolves, which was utterly different from Simmons.

Back in the day, the swingman dominated the T-Wolves starters with the 3rd squad of the team. He then proceeded to call the team’s management out, which prompted his exit from the team. In contrast, Simmons has played the indifference card, ignoring everybody at the Sixers facility, refusing to participate in drills with teammates and doing whatever he wants.

After Slam Studios shared a pic comparing these two situations, fans praised Butler and attacked Simmons while remembering they didn’t have the best relationship in Philly.

Their personalities didn’t mesh and this led to Butler joining the Miami Heat via sign-and-trade in 2019. This move was labeled a ‘mistake’ by Joel Embiid recently, so you know the Cameroonian already had an opinion on this whole situation.

Now Simmons has earned the hate from people in Philly. His own teammates do not want to talk about him and Simmons seems ready to continue with his nonchalant attitude. The Sixers remain firm in their decision to get the most in return for Simmons, but it’s unclear what team will offer a suitable package for the Australian playmaker.
