The Last Time The Celtics Made The Finals Their Current Big Was Pretty Young: Jayson Tatum Was 12, Jaylen Brown 13 And Marcus Smart 16

The Boston Celtics coming into this season were not considered the best team in the Eastern Conference. Still, after nearly 10 months of NBA action, here we are with the Celtics clinching the East and looking to win their first title in 14 years against the Warriors.

The team has relied on the formidable trio of Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, and Marcus Smart to do the heavy lifting for the majority of the season. Be it the biggest shots for the team or the most important blocks; the trio has been in the thick of it.

Boston, meanwhile, over the last decade, has had many decent teams but somehow always failed to get past the Eastern Conference Finals before this season. The last time Celtics were in an NBA Finals; it was in 2010.

12 years certainly is a long time, and while Tatum, Brown, and Smart are superstars right now, back then, the three players were on their separate journeys and unsurprisingly quite young. One post featuring the trio back in 2010 has recently taken the NBA world by storm.

Given how different the trio and how their appearances have changed over the years, it was unsurprising to see fans having a chuckle or two at the post.

Celtics’ 2010 NBA Finals run might have ended in a disappointment, but Tatum, Brown, and Smart certainly will be keen on not repeating history. While Boston is down 3-2 in the series right now, they have shown their grit in the playoffs time and again this season.

Be it defeating the defending champions Milwaukee Bucks or dismantling Brooklyn Nets in the first round, the Celtics have shown why they are a team to be feared. Superb both offensively and defensively, the Celtics have all the tools to force a Game 7, and they even will be playing Game 6 at TD Garden.

The trio of Tatum, Brown, and Smart will surely have to put their best foot forward if they want a Game 7 against a much more experienced Warriors lineup. Can the trio lead the Boston Celtics to their much-awaited 18th NBA title? We’re about to find out.
