The NBA playoffs have been as exciting as ever, with fans being treated to some great games and some all-time legendary performances from players and teams. But a long-running complaint throughout this season has been with the NBA referees. And it appears one referee has landed himself in a lot of trouble.
NBA insider Marc Stein reported that NBA officials have opened an investigation into NBA referee Eric Lewis after fans seemingly uncovered a burner account that might belong to him.
The NBA, I'm told, has opened an official review into Twitter activity unearthed this week with frequent mentions of veteran referee Eric Lewis.

The burner account in question was consistently defending some of the questionable calls that Lewis made in games. While the account claimed that it was run by Eric’s brother Mark, the NBA is going to investigate it to see whether Lewis did anything wrong and had anything to do with the account.
Burner Accounts In The NBA
Eric Lewis is far from the only NBA figure to potentially have a burner account. The NBA has seen players like Kevin Durant use burner accounts to defend themselves from criticism that fans might be unleashing on him. On top of that, other figures, such as Shams Charania and RJ Hampton have also been linked to major burner accounts on Twitter.
Lewis has been under criticism for some of his calls over the last few months. It didn’t help his case when it was revealed that he and his family are massive Boston Celtics fans, putting into question his objectivity as an NBA referee. It will be interesting to see how this investigation pans out, and whether Lewis will be punished or reprimanded in any way by the league.
The investigation will reveal its results, and whatever action taken against Lewis will be revealed soon.
