Jason Kidd was recently named the new head coach of the Dallas Mavericks. This will be Kidd’s first head coaching job since his stint with the Milwaukee Bucks came to an end. Kidd then became an assistant head coach with the Los Angeles Lakers, where he helped coach the team to win an NBA championship. Kidd is returning to the franchise where he won the only NBA championship of his playing career. His main job will be helping to create a solid team around Luka Doncic as they look to build a championship-contending team around him.

But recently, Kidd’s performance as a head coach has come under question because of certain things he did during his tenure with the Bucks. One of the stories that went viral revealed Kidd punished the entire Milwaukee Bucks squad because Thon Maker had an Android that compromised the team’s group chat. The story made the rounds because of how ridiculous it was. It seemed like an odd but amusing reaction to a player not having access to technology. But as it turns out, this story is not true, at least according to Maker himself.

After the initial story went viral, Thon Maker took to Twitter to dismiss the rumors. He mentioned that people often create false stories in order to grab headlines and garner attention. But this story was not at all true. In fact, Maker claimed that he always had an iPhone, but someone else on the team had an Android phone. Regardless of the phone situation, no one on the team was made to run laps because of their phone.

“I know people make stuff up for clicks now but this one is hilarious and wrong I’ve always had an iPhone. But someone else had an Android lol but we never ran for it.”

Despite this story being disproven, Kidd has some bad press surrounding him. NBA Fans have been criticizing Kidd after stories about him forcing players to play on Christmas have come to light as part of a book about Giannis Antetokounmpo. Many fans believe that Kidd was being very harsh toward his teammates. The timing of these stories cannot be good for Kidd, as he prepares to once again embark on a journey as a head coach. But if Kidd is able to find success with the Mavericks, the fans and the franchise won’t be too concerned about it.
