Tim Duncan On Nikola Jokic: “His Creativeness, His Footwork, His Passing – It’s A Lot Of Fun To Watch.”

2 Min Read

Tim Duncan is widely regarded as the best power forward in NBA history, and for good reason. He’s a 15x All-Star, 15x All-NBA player, 2x MVP, and 5x NBA Champion.

Since he retired in 2016, Duncan has stayed mostly away from the spotlight, with very few public appearances.

But, in a rare public appearance, on “the Real Ones Podcast,” the Spurs superstar spoke on a number of topics, pointing out one player/team he likes to watch in today’s game.

“I like watching Denver and Jokic. The Joker is a lot of fun to watch. His creativeness, his footwork, his passing – it’s a lot of fun to watch.”

It is often that the modern NBA is criticized by former players for being “soft,” but Duncan doesn’t do that here. Instead, he seems to admit his admiration for Jokic’s game, which happens to be very new-age for a big.

Still, it should be no surprise. The Nuggets star big man is flashy, well-rounded, and a uniquely talented playmaker. Through 7 games this season, the 25-year-old is averaging 24.1 points, 11.7 rebounds, and 11.9 assists per game on 61.4% shooting.

In his day, Duncan was a much more of a traditional big, leading the Spurs to 5 Championships in 19 years.
